Flood Control Channels Research Program

SAMwin Policy

In 2001, the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL), Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC), Waterways Experiment Station (WES), Vicksburg, MS, entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRDA) with Ayres Associates, Ft. Collins, CO, to develop a modern user-friendly, graphical user interface for the DOS-based SAM package. Ayres developed a Windows interface which uses the same executable programs, with necessary improvements and fixes, as the earlier DOS-based SAM package. The package is now called SAMwin, or SAM.

Ayres has exclusive rights to sell and support the SAMwin package to the private sector and all government agencies except the Corps of Engineers; phone 970-223-5556, or email SAMwin@AyresAssociates.com

Corps of Engineers offices can receive the new SAMwin package, and support, through CHL, free with participation in the Numerical Model Maintenance Program at ERDC; contact sam@erdc.usace.army.mil

The US Government is not responsible for results obtained with this software. However, we will respond to all documented instances of program errors. We welcome notification of such instances so corrections can be made. SAMwin source code will not be distributed.
