Notice of Availability of Draft Environmental Impact Assessment and Public Meeting |
|
This project will see the demolition of the existing nine-story David A. Cofrin Library and construction of a new low-rise, multi-use academic, library, and technology center. All programs and functions currently housed in the Cofrin Library will be relocated to the new facility; re-sized and re-configured to meet the current and anticipated future campus demands; and reflect a more efficient building footprint, open office scheme, and shared common spaces. The entry drive will be redesigned and the open quad area will be enlarged and relocated with stormwater and landscape improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin in April of 2025 with substantial completion by July of 2027. The project budget is $101,715,000. The Wisconsin Department of Administration Division of Facilities Development (DFD) has retained Ayres on behalf of the University of Wisconsin System Administration to prepare an EIA in accordance with the Wisconsin Environmental Policy Act (WEPA), Wisconsin Statutes 1.11, and UWSA guidelines (Board of Regents’ Resolution 2508, November 6, 1981). The purpose of the Draft EIA is to identify the project’s potential impacts on the physical, biological, social, and economic environments. The Draft EIA describing these potential impacts is being made available to the public and appropriate agencies for a 15-day minimum review period, which begins on September 19, 2024 and concludes on October 3, 2024. Copies of the document will be available for review at the UW-Green Bay David A. Cofrin Library and Green Bay Central Library and at www.ayresprojectinfo.com. A public meeting to present the Draft EIA will begin at 6 PM on October 3, 2024. The meeting will be held at Wood Hall Room 216 on the UW-Green Bay campus and remotely via Microsoft Teams (URL: https://bit.ly/3XkvUv7; Meeting ID: 225 826 721 698; Passcode: VMGqkr) and by telephone (+1 715-318-5006, 660517247#). On-site parking is available in the Wood Hall Lot. A description of the project and potential environmental impacts will be presented. All persons will be afforded a reasonable opportunity to identify both orally and in writing any support, issues, or concerns they believe should be further addressed during the EIA process. If you are interested in this project or have any information relevant to it, we welcome your comments, suggestions, or other input. For consideration in the Final EIA, please submit your comments at the meeting or in writing by October 3, 2024. Comments in writing can be sent to: |
